How many financial advisors should one have?

Initially, I thought that this was an easy question with a simple answer (usually one, and sometimes yourself). However, I know of friends who have more than one, for various reasons other than vast assets. There are also cases where there is one primary financial advisor and other orphan investments held elsewhere (i.e. pre-advisor assets being held/managed at a retail bank branch). Something to think about.
